Things that are making me happy
Thing one: I went to see a friend a couple of weeks ago. We were putting together a Temptation of Eve set to perform that night, with the help of some Creationist soft rock and Alice Cooper. (She liked the Alice Cooper, which is encouraging. She doesn’t like Queen (incomprehensible) or Meatloaf.)
Anyway, when she opened the door she was wearing a red PVC minidress, red patent stripper platforms, and marigold gloves. I have the best friends.
Thing two: I just submitted my tax return (oops, a few days late, but they don’t seem to want to fine me for it). Due to my long holiday and claiming the many sex toys I bought that year as expenses, I made a lot less in 06-07 than 05-06. Then because my July payment towards 06-07 was based on 05-06 income, my bill this year was less than a third that of last year. That’s a really good surprise.
Thing three: My Friday night involved a guy who’d fallen over backwards and fallen asleep on the pavement with nothing but a t-shirt on his top half. We took him to our house since he couldn’t find his own, and then another stranger who was helping managed to find his housemates. We sent them all off to hospital in an ambulance, which was great because his friends thought it’d be all right to take him home until one of the ambulance crew explained the danger of head injury. I went to their house today to ask how he was. I haven’t seen him yet but his housemate said that he’d been in hospital for a while but he’s ok. That’s one of the best feelings there is.
